A POROSITY-BASED HYDROMECHANICS MODEL FOR HETEROGENEOUS ROCKS

A porosity-based hydromechanics model was proposed to investigate the influence of rock heterogeneity on the hydromechanics. The rock heterogeneity is measured by the porosity-which is assumed to distribute randomly as defined by the Weibull Distribution. The uniqueness of this study is that distribution maps of rock hydromechanical properties, such as elastic modulus and permeability, are determined by the porosity, and that these rock property maps are ported directly to a coupled hydromechanics model. Numerical results have demonstrated the significant impact of rock heterogeneity on the coupled hydromechanics.
