COUPLED NON-ISOTHERMAL MULTICOMPONENT REACTIVE GEOCHEMICAL TRANSPORT MODELS: MODELLING THE LONG-TERM GEOCHEMICAL EVOLUTION OF A HLW REPOSITORY IN CLAY WITH CORE2D V4

A numerical model of coupled saturated/unsaturated water flow, heat transfer and multi-component reactive solute transport under both local chemical equilibrium and kinetic conditions is presented. It has been implemented in CORE2D V4. Changes in formation porosity and permeability caused by mineral dissolution/precipitation reactions are taken into account. Model and code capabilities are demonstrated with its application to modelling the long-term geochemical evolution of a HLW repository in a clay host rock.
