HYDRO-GEODYNAMIC ANALYSIS AND ITS APPLICATION

The interaction between hydrosphere and lithosphere in the shallow surface of the Earth is significantly active to influence the conditions of human survive and engineering development. The concept of effective stress, rock weakening due to saturation and permeability variation are found to be essential involved in the interaction. Some results obtained from laboratory experiments are presented. A methodology for analyzing the process of interaction is suggested including coupling solution of basic seepage and solid deformation equations and governing equations taking into account the contribution of water-rock (water-soil) interaction. The suggested procedure of numerical analysis provides a tool in study of number issues in the geo-environmental and geotechnical engineering, such as rainfall triggering of landslides, collapse of canal in loess, dam foundation deformation, and stability of slopes in water reservoir. The authors appeal that more experimental works are needed to deepen the hydro-geodynamics study.
