STUDY ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF ROCK BOLTING SUPPORT SYSTEM COMPOSITE MATERIAL
Rock bolts are widely used to reinforce rock masses in many Geotechnical engineering fields such as tunnel, roadbed and high slope. Geotechnical engineers have accumulated much experience in constructing rock bolts but many feel that current theories on the interaction between rock and bolt are not enough to guide construction. In this paper, we present a micro-mechanical composite model of rock bolt system, compute Elastic moduli and Poissons ratio using this model and compare the analytical results to those from numerical simulation utilizing a finite element program. With both approaches, we simulate laboratory load conditions: both uniaxial compression and three-axis compression loads. From these computations, the equivalent stress-strain curve is constructed and the equivalent elastic moduli, the cohesion C and the friction angle Φ of the special composite material obtained. Results from our micro-mechanical composite model agree well with those from numerical analysis.
