MODELLING DISCRETE FRACTURING OF WALL BLOCKS ON A DEPOSITION HOLE BY THM LOADING
This paper presents the modelling results with FRACOD for the BMT Task B of the DECOVALEX-THMC project. To simulate discrete fracture responses of EDZ, wall block models are defined representing a part of walls on deposition hole. Incremental boundary stresses by complex THM loading history from results of Task D are applied to the models at each time step. It is found from results that fracturing pattern and resultant mechanical evolution are much influenced by the existence and geometry of pre-existing fractures. Fracture deformation and aperture change are monitored and implication to the safety of the EDZ is also discussed.
