Ezperimental studies on the distribution of the anomaly of the seepage and piping in the dyke by the flow field fitting method
Seepage and piping are one of the main reasons for the dyke failure. Based on the similarity between the water flow field and electric current field, a new method called flow field fitting method which is used to detect the water inlet of the seepage and piping is put forward. This method can locate the water inlet of the seepage and piping by means of measuring the distribution of the density of the electric current in the water column. Model tests confirmed that flow field fitting method can accurately locate the water inlet of the seepage and piping, and the metallic interferent in the measuring zone can not affect the detection and its interpretation.
