The optimal research of reinforcement measures in the second dam of Huangbizhuang Reservoir
The second dam of Huangbizhuang Reservoir is in the key position of flood control and at the same time it is also the most dangerous building with the most problems. It is a homogeneous dam with length of 6907.3m and crest elevation of 19.2m. The artificial horizontal blanket to prevent seepage brings about serious leakage which causes sand emits, collapses the pit and leakage downstream dam and the situation is worsens day by day. Such problems as dam cracks and sinks could not be solved though it has been more than 20 times of reinforcement, remedy, thicken and lengthen. The crest associated-vertical impervious scheme which was analyzed and demonstrated sufficiently, was adopted and a concrete cutoff wall of 300,000 m2 was built and excellent result was obtained.
