Application of Distributive Temperature-Measuring Optical Fibers to Temperature Control at Jinghong
As comparison with the traditional copper electric resistance thermometer, distributive optical fibers measuring temperature were embedded in the Jinghong hydroelectric station under construction in the subtropical climate in Yunnan, China. The monitoring results have shown that the service rate in good condition for the optical fiber and optical cables embedded in the Jinghong project is up to 100%, meeting the requirements for construction environment of hydroelectric project; and the optical fiber measuring temperature system has a good stability with their temperature-measuring accuracy and resolution meeting the requirements for the project. The testing and research results of type selection, methods of embedment and observation and statistical processing of data will provide experience for widely application of the optical measuring temperature technique to the hydroelectric project.
