Investigation on Wall-Pressure Fluctuation

The characteristics of wall-pressure fluctuation affected directly the safety of hydraulic structure like a dam and an apron. Wall-pressure fluctuation signals acting on smooth boundary, the guiding-wall of stilling basin and on the bottom by impinging jet were obtained by model tests. Moreover, proper orthogonal decomposition and low-dimensional approximation method was adopted to study wall-pressure fluctuation. The features of characteristic values and expansion coefficients coming from proper orthogonal decomposition of wall-pressure fluctuation were argued, and the low-dimension approximation of spectrum function was also discussed. The results made it clear that the wall-pressure fluctuation could be described with the method of proper orthogonal decomposition, and the low-dimension approximation of spectrum function was also effective.
