Rotordynamic Analysis of Machines on Active Magnetic Bearings: A Two Mass Model Approach Draft
This paper considers the model and control of a flexible rotor supported on active magnetic bearings (AMBs).A simple two mass model is proposed that captures the key characteristics of the flexible rotor/AMB system.Based on this model,stability analysis of the rotor/AMB system under a simple PID control is carried out.Such an analysis predicts the destabilizing eects of the shaft aerodynamic cross coupling.
