Simulation on Influence Law of Contact Location for Vehicle/Pedestrian’s Head Collision

Based on PC-Crash program for simulation and reconstruction of road accident and embedded MADYMO module for multi-body system dynamics analysis,the influence laws of contact locations for vehicle/pedestrian’s head collisions are analyzed with modeling and simulation by modeling vehicle and pedestrian,introducing two parameters,i.e.upward throw distance and lateral deviation distance,and selecting main factors influencing on contact location for vehicle/pedestrian’s head collision as independent variables for simulation tests,the influencing factors and laws as well as corresponding vehicle impact speed thresholds on contact location for vehicle/pedestrian’s head collision under different collision circumstances are in depth researched,moreover,the relation curves and empirical formulae for various influence laws on upward throw distance and lateral deviation distance are derived from regression analyses.The comparisons of simulation results with real world vehicle/pedestrian collisions under observation as well as crash tests have shown a perfect harmony and consistency between them,the simulation results can be applied to technical appraisal of vehicle/pedestrian collision.The results in this paper will be of an important value in dynamics analysis and technical appraisal of vehicle/pedestrian collision in China.
