A New Optimization Method Based on Genetic Algorithm for Fuzzy Logic Controller Design

This paper provides an overview on Genetic Algorithm for the automated design and optimization of fuzzy logic controllers.A new optimization method for fuzzy controller design is proposed.The membership functions of input and output variables are defined by three parameters,called geometric proportional factor,adding with the scaling factor,which are adjusted to maximize the performance index by using the Genetic Algorithm.This method can shorten coding length and improve speed of evolution.Simulation experiment on water level controller is discussed by using above method.The platform of simulation is integration of Genetic Algorithm toolbox and fuzzy controller toolbox based on MATLAB.The simulation result proves its feasibility.
