PI Control of a Flexible Structure Subjected to stochastic Base Excitation and deterministic Excitation at the Output Location

This study considers the problem of attenuating the vibration of any location on a flexible thin plate subject to a random base excitation and sinusoidal force input acting at a point on the plate itself. The plate is supported by an actuator with known stiffness and damping, mounted between the vibrating base and the plate. The actuator is to provide the control force needed to attenuate the vibration at the measurement location. The control effort is determined by negative feedback of velocity measurement and a PI controller.Proportional and integral gains of the PI are the damping and the stiffness of the actuator, respectively,Simulation results using the proposed control scheme has shown significant reduction in the vibration of the plate at the measurement location.Root locus analysis has indicated that the poles of the closed loop system remain in the left-hand side of the s-plane for any value of closed-loop gain.
