A feedback control approach to cylinder pressure of automotive engines
In this paper, the in-cylinder pressure at top dead center (TDC) is adopted for evaluating the cycle-to-cycle variability and its fourcycle moving average value is taken as the index for balancing. With ignition time as the control input a model-based control approach is proposed for the regulation.First, the ARMA model with simple structure is introduced to describe the dynamics from ignition time to the moving average index and this model is validated by experiments. Then,by using this model a one-step prediction-based minimum variance control (MVC) scheme is developed. The performance of the proposed controller is illustrated by experiments with a commercial car used engine and experimental results show the controller supply reliable effect for variation rejection.
