ANSYS solid modeling method for modeling 3-D crack model

The modelling of 3-D crack is more involved than 2-D crack.This paper takes surface crack as example,introduce the procedures of ANSYS solid modelling method in detail.The cracked entity has been looked as two parts: crack part and non-crack part,and the crack part being meshed with particular skills to generate 3-D singular elements that are crucial for 3-D crack.This method can be applied to any structures without shape limitation,and different types of crack can be modelled with this method.Solution of stress intensity factor of straight through crack model modelled with solid method has been compared with the solution obtained basing on empirical formula.The result shows that: the solid modelling method not only can be carried through easily and without any limitation to structure shape,but also has enough precision guarantee of the solution of stress intensity factor.
