Keynote I From Graph Mining to Information Network Mining

Mining and searching of graphs in large data sets has attracted a lot of interests in data mining community in the last several years, with lot of scalable methods developed. Considering Web, research publication databases (such as DBLP, Pubmed), terrorist hidden networks, and biological networks are all massive information networks, it is natural to further develop scalable mining methods for knowledge discovery in information networks. In this talk, we will present an overview on graph mining research and introduce a few interesting recent studies on information network analysis. We show that many interesting techniques have been developed for information network mining, but there is still lots of open problems to explore, which could form one of the most exciting research frontiers in data mining.
