Optimal Design for Linear MIMO Transceivers with l(p)-norm Power Constraint

In this paper, linear MIMO transceivers design for minimizing the combination of symbol estimation errors subject to lp-norm constraint is investigated. To simplify the optimization problem, we first derive the structure of optimal precoder and decoder matrices. Then, instead of considering each constraint in a separate way, we develop a unifying framework by employing the directional derivative method. Based on this result, we show that the optimal design subject to sum or peak power constraint (p = 1 or p→∞) is consistent with that in 14. Additionally, for general case 1 < p < ∞, we show that the power allocation can be determined numerically.
