Recent Advances in Nonlinear Stochastic Optimal Control of Quasi Hamiltonian Systems

In the past decade, a set of nonlinear stochastic optimal control strategies for minimizing the response, stabilization and maximizing the reliability and mean first-passage time of quasi Hamiltonian systems were developed by the present first author and his co-workers using the stochastic averaging method and the stochastic dynamical programming principle. To apply these control strategies to engineering structures, they were recently further developed to take account of the partial observation of system state, the boundness and time delay of control forces, and the uncertainty of system parameters and excitation. This paper introduces the basic idea and the recent developments of these control strategies.
