Modelling Decision Making in Intermodal Transport for Small Companies in Spain
The strategic objectives of the work carried out in Spain within the European project Mataari lie within the rationalization of mobility and the improvement of intermodal accessibility. They concentrate on establishing the basis for a higher participation of small and medium-size companies in intermodal transport. This is done by modelling the involved decisionmaking process and validated by analyzing the specific experiences of an individual transport company seeking an enhancement of the modal shift within its logistic operations. A cost analysis was carried out, applicable to intermodal transport in Spain, and some insight was also obtained with respect to other additional factors influencing intermodality.
