Uncertainty in Facility Location Problem
Facility location problem is a spatial resource allocation problem in which one or more service facilities to serve a spatiality distributed set of demands have to be located according with one or several objective functions depending on the interaction between demand and facilities. Facility location problem are costly and difficult to reverse, and their impact spans a long time horizon. The parameters of facility location problem such as costs, demands, distances may fluctuate widely. The twostage nature of facility location problems, choose locations now, before we know what the future holds, and react once the uncertainty has made these problems very attractive to researchers exploring approaches to decision making under uncertainty.
