Identification of Bivariate Gamma Probability Distribution Model to Fit Different Periods of Time Related to Surgical Activity
For the simulation and/or management (planning, organisation, start-up) of complex systems such as a group of operating theatres on a hospital site, models of underlying phenomena are required. The objective of this study is to offer managers a tool to assist them in the planning of surgical operations and the allocation of time slots. Using periods of time of different lengths which were observed (and stored in a data warehouse) during surgical operations, taken from two different hospital sites, we propose a bivariate probability distribution model. Our study relates to about 10,000 observations.
