Genetic Algorithm for Solving the Two-Stage One-Dimensional Cutting-Stock Problem
The Multi-stage cutting stock approach provides an attractive solution for the cutting problem of large and heavy aluminium sections. A linear program formulation of the problem is presented. An alternative approach to the solution of the problem is a genetic-search based algorithm that produces sets of identical or nearly identical groups of the required final lengths of aluminium sections.
