Polynomial Time Solution Methods for Some Cross-Docking Problems
A Cross docking platform has input and output doors. It receives products from different origins. Products have to be sent in different destinations. Costs are related to the vehicles waiting times, to the double manipulations (items that can not be moved directly from a truck to another) and to the trucks additional manipulations (outgoing trucks temporary moved to a parking area). Degrees of freedom include input scheduling, output scheduling, truck shifting policy and loading policy. This article focuses on sub problems with a single input door, a single output door and a single outgoing semi-trailer in each direction. Several polynomial case are identified.
