Development of an Air Impact Wrench in a Network-Centric Environment
This paper presents a highly practical frameworkthat can be used to develop new mechatronicsproducts in a network-centric environment for Smalland medium-size enterprises (SMEs). Thenetwork-centric environment is developed using a webserver as Technology Transfer center where SMEs canenter it to seek what they need and search for partners.The particular R&D problems or needs put by theSMEs are transferred to research centers anduniversities where the problems are solved throughcollaboration work. The SMEs participation with theresearch center and universities is thus linked throughinternet. The engineering software tools like CAD,CAE, CAPP, PDM are used to model and analyzeparticular product. JAVA, v-conference, netmeeting,web-based 3d collaborative software are used forproduct information sharing. The framework isapplied to the development of an air impact wrench tomake effective and efficient collaborative designs.
