A Prototype of WEB-based Middleware System for EDA Tools Sharing
Electronic design automation (EDA) tools arebecoming more and more important for integratedcircuit (IC) designers, while the commercial EDA toolsare very expensive and most individual engineers cannot afford them. However, the success and efficiency ofIC design at present depends mostly on the plentitude ofEDA tools and their resources. As the lnternet boosting,it provides good opportunities for the individualengineers to share their intelligent properties (IP) andthe EDA tools through WEB system. In this paper,middleware technology is introduced into setup aprototype of web-based system for the EDA toolssharing. It can be used to make business for applicationservice provider to host the WEB-based EDA servers ascommercial platform. Any individual engineers canregister as a member for using the expensive tools andselling the IP cores on the platform. There are severalcritical issues of the middleware in designing theprototype system. Here, we generalized them as: accesscontrol, protocol transformation, connectionmanagement, and so on. In order to analyze and spreadour system, we will review the existed web-based EDAsystems and details on all of the critical issues of ourprototype system.
