Toward Spreadsheet-based Data Management in Distributed Enterprise Environment

摘要：

In this paper, we propose a feasible approach onmanaging the heterogeneous data in distributedenterprise environment, which leverages the born datapresentation and calculation ability of spreadsheet tounify the enterprise information access toheterogeneous data sources through its core component:universal distributed data interchanging middleware(UDDIM). Afterwards, we focus on the problem ofunifying all kinds of heterogeneous data sources fromheterogeneous OS in lntranet through CORBA andInternet through SOAP into one single SpreadsheetWorld. And this Spreadsheet World is bridged to andfro other information worlds through InformationGateway technology. XML technique is used to achievedata exchanging regardless of the differences of low-level communication mechanisms. As a result, allclients can access and utilize information from onesingle Spreadsheet Word in variety of ways, bothpowerfully and easily.
