A New Method for VE Partner Selection and Evaluation Based on AHP and Fuzzy Theory

In view of inconsistency of the judgment matrix gotten by pairwise comparison between increasingalternatives in nowadays virtual enterprise (VE)partner selection & evaluation problem by the AnalyticHierarchy Process (AHP), a new web-based methodcombined the AHP and other basic fuzzy theory isproposed, in which the priority weights of decisioncriteria in every level of hierarchy structure areidentified by the AHP and attribute-values of everyalternative are determined by fuzzy relation matrix, thenthe evaluation result is acquired by synthesizing themfinally. An application system based on this method hasbeen developed, and a real case study of selecting VEpartners demonstrated its application and examined itseffectiveness. The use of the proposed method indicatesthat it is not only suited to solving problems such asregional restriction, long treating time and inflexibleprocessing way, etc., which are produced by applyingtraditional partner selection method, but also suited tomaking up drawbacks including limited number ofalternatives, unreasonable mathematical modelstructure, etc., which are caused by the use of the AHPor Fuzzy-AHP This applicable method makes it easierfor the evaluation team to arrive at a consensusdecision, obtain fair and reasonable conclusions andexamine the strengths and weaknesses of alternatives bycomparing them with respect to appropriate criteria.
