Knowledge-Based Assembly Sequence Planning System
This paper presents a knowledge-based approachto assembly sequence planning problem. This researchshows that the typical or standard CSBAT (ConnectionSemantics Based Assembly Tree) can be applied to agiven assembly problem. The structure of the KBASP(Knowledge-Based Assembly Sequence PlanningSystem) is proposed, there are three ways to constructplans for a CSBAT: (1) by retrieving the typical base, (2)by retrieving standard base, and (3) by geometryreasoning. Compared with other system based on thereuse philosophy, the approach can generate assemblysequences for each CSBAT directly without the problemof merging plans for different child CSBATs. Byintegrating geometry-based reasoning withknowledge-based reasoning, the computationcomplexity is reduced drastically and the assemblysequences obtained are more feasible and practical.
