A CSCWD Framework for Component-based SOC Design
Silicon technology now allows designers to buildchips consisting of tens of millions of transistors. Thistechnology promises new levels of system integrationonto a single chip (system-on-chip, SOC), but alsopresents significant challenges to the chip designers. Inorder to implement such systems, designers areincreasingly relying on reuse of intellectual property(IP) components. Component-Based SOC Design(CBSD) becomes one of the most effective solutions toimprove system development quality and productivity. In a complex SOC design, multiple engineering designteams are required to work cooperatively in order todesign a product, each team may focus on only a part ofthe whole system. So component exchange, configuration and integration are the core technologiesand frontier research areas in CBSD. This paperpresents a CSCWD framework based on ExtensibleMarkup Language (XML) specification for IPcomponent exchange and integration.
