A Service-Oriented Framework for Collaborative Product Commerce

In this paper we propose a service-oriented processmodel and a web service framework for collaborativeproduct commerce (CPC). The framework, calledMIDAS, integrates design process, business plan andassembly operations using the web services. A CPCprocess involves a collaborative process, which consistsof interdependent tasks. In a global environment, manytasks are outsourced to other companies. In MIDAS, atask is regarded as a service that an organization canprovide. The service discovery of MIDAS, throughUDDI, enables companies to find the services andprocesses other companies provide. MIDAS providesservice composition to support a process which involvesseveral services of other companies. MIDAS interface iswritten in XML and Web Service Description Language(WSDL), which facilitates platform independent processmanagement among heterogeneous and collaborativesystems.
