Selective Scene Transfer in Web Applications
Applications like cooperative CAD and virtualtouring on web need to transfer a scene consisting ofmodels and textures from one computer to another.However, the scene may be very large, and the time totransfer the whole scene is significant. Duringtransferring, the user has to wait until the whole sceneis downloaded to the local machine. In this article, wepropose a new approach to estimate the visualimportance of each object or even each polygon and amethod that will selectively transfer the models andtextures in the scene. In this way, we can reduce user-waiting time while keeping the image quality the usercan see.
