A Hybrid Mode Collaborative Design System on the Internet
The development processes of complicated products,such as aero-engines, are across time, organizationsand disciplines in multiple engineering teams. CSCD(Computer Supported Cooperative Design) is one of thedeveloping trends to support above processes.Considering the advantage of two kinds of collaborativedesign mode, i.e., Web-based mode and agent-basedmode, this paper presents a Hybrid Mode collaborativedesign system on the Internet. The paper introduces thesystem architecture, discusses the key technologies andpoints out the works on the system for the future. Thesystem architecture is distributed and based on softwareagents which communicate with each other usingKQML through a centralized message server. Thesystem is composed of five modules includingapplication collaborative tools, communication agent,service agent set, web server and collaborativedatabase.
