Ontology-Based Semantic Integration for Cooperative Distributed Multidisciplinary Design Optimization Environments
The recent explosion of the new design optimizationknowledge and advanced computer technology has laidthe foundation for the emerging fields of distributedmultidisciplinary design optimization (MDO). Thechallenge now faced by designers is to effectively usethis vast amount of knowledge. There are manysoftware tools available in each design area. However, the key problem is how to integrate these tools anddatabases, which conform to different interface andrequirements with little consideration to integration andreusability, in a flexible and robust way. This paperproposes a novel ontology-based semantic integrationframework for cooperative distributed MDOenvironments. The semantic integration aspect willprovide the foundation for service-oriented architecturefor distributed MDO environments. The cooperationaspect will focus on seamless integration amongautonomous MDO systems in dynamic openenvironment, using multi-agent paradigm.
