Research on Product Development Process Modeling
Todays competitive environment makes companiesreduce product development time and cost in order tosustain their competitive advantages. And productdevelopment process modeling has been a chiefproblem in modern product development processmanagement. This paper aims to propose a powerfulmodeling language to make an exact and fulldescription of design process, organize and coordinatethe processes and resources and quicken the time ofdesign circle at last. Firstly, we discuss the widebenefits of product development process modeling, andthen we present the characteristics of modern productdevelopment pattern in order to achieve an exact andfull description of it. Two types of task dependencieshave been adopted, and we mainly discussed thetemporal dependencies which is one of the foundationsof product process modeling. According to thecharacteristic of modern product development,Hierarchical Time Colored Petri Nets (HTCPN), apowerful modeling language, is introduced, and a pumpdevelopment practice process model based on HTCPNis proposed At last, the performance analysis ofHTCPN and process model based HTCPN areintroduced We find that many performances productdevelopment process modeling concerned are easilydiscovered from our model.
