XQuery-to-SQL Translating Algorithm with Little Dependence on Schema Mapping between XML and RDB

Existing XQuery-to-SQL algorithms all depend onspecial XML-to-RDB schema-mapping algorithm, but inthe real applications, an independent method is neededbecause people cant ensure that the two translating comefrom the same industry projects and conflicts cant beavoided. Aiming at this problem, we propose anXQuery-to-SQL translating algorithm with littledependence on any schema-mapping algorithm betweenXML and RDB by setting up a General Virtual RelationalSchema for XML Document (G VRS for short), which canbe used as the bridge between XML view and its bottomrelational storage. Our method separates XQuery-to-SQLalgorithm from schema mapping between XML and RDB,so the conflicts can be avoided successfully.
