An Efficient Communication Protocol for PC Clusters

When clusters are used in parallel computing, thecommunication speed between processes is the bottleneckdue to low network communication bandwidth. In thispaper, we overview some methods used to improvecommunication performance, and introduce a newtransport protocol that we have designed andimplemented based on Ethernet and the TCP/IP protocolis replaced by the new protocol in cluster computing thiswork will used in CSCW application. The results showparallel computing using the new protocol on an Ethernetin comparison to using TCP/IP protocol on an Ethernetcan provide larger communication bandwidth andimprove the performance of a cluster system.
