WSCAD: A Collaborative CAD System Based on Web Service
The rapid development of communication andcomputer network technology provides a solid ground forcomputer supported collaborative design. This paperpresents a distributed collaborative CAD system based onWeb Service. The system employs feature as itscollaborative design element and uses XML to definefeature operations and communication protocol betweenthe server and the client. The system updates the featureinformation on the client incrementally in order to reducenetwork load and increase response ability. As it isconstructed with Web Service, the system supportscollaboratively designing on heterogeneous platforms.The framework and communication protocols of it areanalyzed in detail. The experimental results from thedeveloped prototype system show that, the system is ableto effectively support collaborative design under thedistributed environment.
