A Generic Entity-Centric Concurrent Manipulation Control Scheme for Cooperative Design
Concurrent manipulation control scheme is animportant problem for cooperative design. Consistency, responsiveness and concurrency are three importantwhile opposite requirements for concurrent manipulationcontrol Furthermore, the essence of concurrentmanipulation control is to solve manipulation conflictionand provide confliction-free manipulation. Hence, thefocus of concurrent manipulation control scheme is howto solve manipulation confliction with minimum responsetime and maximum concurrency under consistency. Thispaper proposed several design considerations forconcurrent manipulation control scheme. Based on theseconsiderations, this paper presented a new entity-centricconcurrent manipulation scheme based on a series offormalized concepts. This new scheme implements relaxWYSIWIS, and adopts confliction elimination rather thanconfliction avoidance. The new scheme is divided intothree steps: local manipulation, server-side manipulationvalidation and replica synchronization. Localmanipulation improves responsiveness; server-sidemanipulation validation maximizes concurrency; andreplica synchronization guarantees consistency. Moreover, an overall implementation for the new entity-centric concurrent manipulation control scheme isdepicted in details.
