A Novel Approach to Simulation and Analysis of Fuzzy-parameterized Discrete Event Systems
Classical discrete event simulation methodology usually assume that sufficient information (e.g.parameters of input processes, probability distributions of random variables in the system, etc.) are available to model the real system precisely. However, this is a stringent presumption in most practice. This problem calls for the need of treating imprecise information during discrete event simulation.Fuzzy set and possibility theory has been proposed for tens of years, and has been proved to be a useful tool in representing and dealing with imprecision. Thus, researchers began to study the methodology for fuzzy discrete event simulation. There exists great difference between fuzzy discrete event simulation and its classical counterpart. This paper presents the basic concepts and methods in the past literature in this new field, and proposes a new methodology for simulation and analysis of discrete event systems with fuzzy input parameters.Simulation experiments show that the new approach yields more reasonable results and avoids the time paradox problem faced by traditional methods.
