Spatial Moment Sub-pixel Edge Locator Based on Cubic Bezier Curve
Edge location of sub-pixel accuracy is an importanttechnology for image processing.A novel approach toedge location of sub-pixel accuracy is proposed in thispaper,which uses a cubic Bezier curve model to fitedges occurred in a digital image and overcomes thedrawbacks of the models of line and parabola whenthere is an inflection point on the edge.TheLevenberg-Marquardt iterative method is utilized toget the control points of the cubic Bezier curve.Experimental results illustrate the performance of thealgorithm.These results show that the localization ofthe edges is much more accurate than that of theexisting approaches when the shape of the fitted edgelikes an unsymmetrical quadratic curve or a cubic onewith an inflection point on it.
