Thresholding Approaches with Interval-valued Fuzzy Sets to Image Segmentation
Thresholding approaches are fundamental and impor-tant techniques in image segmentation.There exist lots ofintegrated techniques of thresholding methods with fuzzysets theory.The fuzzy compactness and fuzzy divergence arepowerful tools in dealing with vague and imprecise data,and are widely applied to thresholding segmentation forimages.This paper extends the two kinds of fuzzy mea-sures to interval-valued fuzzy sets to eliminate uncertain as-signments of membership degrees of pixels in images.Twothresholding techniques are proposed for image segmenta-tion.The affinity characteristics of pixels in images aresufficiently considered in the new techniques.The experi-mental results show that the selection of initial membershipfunctions brings little impact on thresholding segmentationof images.
