An Approach for Accurate Measurement of Lubricant Film Thickness by Fiber-optic Michelson Interferometer
The lubricant film generates in the hydrodynamicslide bearings applied in a lot of large or high-speedrotary machinery and its characteristic directlyinfluence the work performance of these bearings,so ithas been an important research field about how toaccurately measure the lubricant film thickness.Inorder to realize the accurate measurement of thicknessof lubricant film,a new measurement system usingfiber-optical Michelson lnterferometer was presentedin this paper.Some valuable experimental results arealso collected,which verified the feasibility of thismeasurement scheme proposed in this paper.Therefore,the method can be applied to determine thelubricating film states.
