Cognitive Detector:A New Architecture for Target Detection and Tracking in Complex Environment
A new target detection architecture,designated ascognitive detector,is proposed.This method aims atsolving the problems arising from simultaneousdetecting and tracking targets in various non-stationary and time-variant clutter environment,linagecharacter of detection background and the sceneanalysis result,which is the information that hasntbeen exploited in any existing integrated detection andtracking system,can help adjust the detectionalgorithm adapting for the various background andadd more information about the target/clutter for dataassociation or tracking to enhance the systemsperformance.Cognitive detector partitions the radardetection scene using the statistical and imagecharacter of the detection background.Then,multi-policy detection algorithm and detection oriented dataassociation method operate based bn the former output.At last,feedback structure between detection andtracking algorithm is used to optimize the detectionpolicy.As describing the definition of cognitivedetection and its operation processes,the paperfocuses on the specific application of high frequencysurface wave radar,for which the cognitive detector israther well suitable.
