New Model of Semantic Similarity Measuring in WordNet
This paper presents a new model of measuringsemantic similarity in the taxonomy of WordNet.Themodel takes the path length between two concepts andIC value of each concept as its metric, furthermore, theweight of two metrics can be adapted artificially.Inorder to evaluate our model, traditional and widelyused datasets are used.Firstly, coefficients ofcorrelation between human ratings of similarity andsix computational models are calculated, the resultshows our new model outperforms their homologues. Then, the distribution graphs of similarity value of 65word pairs are discussed our model having no faultedzone more centralized than other five methods. So ourmodel can make up the insufficient of other methodswhich only using one metric(path length or IC value)in their model.
