Study on the Expert System of Overhead Lines Icing and Icing Melting
The prolonged 2008 winter storm of central andsouthern China caused extensive damage to theelectrical installations and railway contact wires. As aresult, the transmission provider of the state hasdeployed substantial efforts to mitigate the effects offuture ice storms. This paper describes a researchprogram relating with this goal.An icing and icingmelting expert system has been developed to estimatethe ice accretion type on wires of electricaltransmission lines and the melting of this ice using theheat generated by the currents flowing in the wires, based on the meteorological parameters such as airtemperature, relative humidity, wind speed, whichobtained by corresponding sensors.Labview languageis used in this system.DAQ card is used to acquirephysical signals coming from various sensors.Thesignals are transmitted to computers, analyzecD andprocessed by the software system.Simultaneously theice scene is monitored for security by real-time videos. This system aims to reduce the icing damage inelectrical transmission lines and railway contactwires.
