A Knowledge-based Creation of Mathematical Programming for GIS Problem Solving

Numbers of applications of GIS essentiallyare models for analyzing in different themes, and they are also examples of problem solvingin AI.Therefore many theories and technologiesfrom AI can be embedded in GIS to strengthenits ability of automatic analysis.Fortunatelymathematical programming is a kind ofpowerful tool to settle problems with a featureof optimization or satisfiability under someconstraint conditions. And many applications ofGIS happen to be in a category of optimization, for they can usually be approximatedaccurately by some mathematical models.Dueto the establishment of any mathematicalprogramming is highly knowledge-based orintelligence-required,so a knowledge-basedsubsystem should be included into our hybridsystem for the sake of autonomously creating amathematical programming for a GISapplication. This problem has a typicalcharacteristic of multiple domains crossing fromperspective of knowledge engineering,so somenovel knowledge-processing methods, likeknowledge dependence, knowledge transitionand knowledge reference, are studied And aknowledge system represented by frames and areference-based knowledge-using method arepresented here.In this paper examplesdemonstrate all steps of creating a mathematicalprogramming in detail, and one real applicationabout how to lay a new metro line is presented.
