EXPERIMENTAL RESRARCHES ON CEMENT MORTAR WITH STEEL SLAG AS FINE AGGREGATE
With the development of industry, humans demand for steel is on the rise. Thephenomenon brings large of quantity steel slag which takes up abundant land and causes a lotof environmental pollution problems whereupon it. To deal with this situation, there is a greatneed to make comprehensive use of steel slag to recycle the waste into the valuable resource.Through the analysis of the rotating furnace slag of Shaanxi Longmen Iron & Steel (Group)Enterprise Co., Ltd, this paper selects five different contents of steel slag to replace the samevolume fraction of sand for the preparation of the mortar. The properties of interest includeconsistency and density of fresh mortar, as well as the compressive strength, frost resistanceand shrinkage resistance of hardened mortars. The microstructure of hardened mortar is alsoanalyzed with a scanning electronic microscope in this paper. As a result of the experiment, itis demonstrated that the mortars microstructure characteristics conform with its macroproperty. With the application of the appropriate mixture proportioning of mortar as well asthe utilization of the local steel slag, sand and cement of Shaanxi province, the steel slagmortar confected with two volumes of steel slag and three volumes of sand meets allrequirements on the physical and mechanical property and durability.
