A NUMERICAL METHOD FOR CALCULATING HYGRO-THERMAL DEFORMATION OF CONCRETE, PARTⅡ: APPLICATION OF THE CALCULATION METHOD.
Temperature and moisture are responsible for the deterioration processes of concretestructures, and the extensive failures in concrete elements often result from both thermal andmoisture simultaneously. In the part Ⅰ of this study, a numerical calculation method wasproposed on the base of the heat and moisture transfer in the porous medium.In this part, thevalidity of the calculation method was verified by two experimental examples. And then, theinfluences of hygro-thermal physical parameters and structural parameters on the deformationof concrete were investigated numerically using the CTMSoft. The results of numericalexperiment imply that evaluating the influence regularity of only a single parameter on theconcrete deformation is unscientific and the coupling effect should be considered in the factthat there isnt a definite relationship between concrete deformation and single parameter. Theefficiency of thermal-moisture isolation clapboard and coatings is inconspicuous according tothe numerical analysis by imaginary equivalent thickness (EIT) method. The numericalcalculation also validated that the neglect of lateral confinement will not result in obviousdeviation in tunnel concrete deformation.
