EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON CONDUCTIVE ASPHALT CONCRETE USING STEEL SLAG AS AGGREGATE
Conductive asphalt concrete using steel slag as aggregate (CACS) is prepared according todesign ideas of Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA), and its conductivity is compared to that ofgraphite conductive asphalt concrete using basalt as aggregate (CACB). Effects of theaddition content of graphite, chloride contamination, and its age on the electrical resistivity ofCACS are investigated. Its road service properties are also discussed. Results show that theelectrical resistivity of CACS is far less than that of CACB under the same condition. Whenthe addition content of graphite is 15%, the electrical resistivity of CACS is less than 100Ω.m,which is about one thousandth of that of CACB at the same addition content of graphite. There is very little effect of its age and chloride contamination on the electrical resistivity ofCACS. Marshall stability, freeze-thaw split strength ratio, Marshall immersion residualstability, and dynamic stability of CACS decreased a little with the increase of graphitecontent, but these road service properties still meet the standard requirements.
