THE EFFECTS OF LIMESTONE POWDER ON STRENGTH AND SHRINKAGE PROPERTIES OF SELF COMPACTING CONCRETE BY USING ARTIFICIAL SAND
In this paper, a study on the use of limestone powder (LP) as fillers in self compactingconcrete (SCC) and their effects on the strength and shrinkage of concrete aggrcgate arepresented. The application of limestone powder has already brought a great improvcment forstrength and shrinkage properties of SCC. Besides, the use of limestone powder as buildingmaterial promoted an interesting possibility for the use of secondary raw materials in theconstruction industry. An experimental program was conducted on artificial sand and the high range water reduceadmixture“JM-PCA-II. The results indicated that the appearance of limestone powder in artificial sand, aggregategrading, etc. has significant effects on the improvement of the strength and shrinkage propertyof SCC. It is recommended by authors that the ratio of limestone powder in artificial sand should beabout 18%. For this ratio of limestone powder, the compressive strength of SCC is increasedapproximately 12% at 28 days, and the shrinkage properties of SCC is also improved a lot.
